ON SEPTEMBER 7TH,2014 I WAS TRYING TO FIND CONTACT INFORMATION ABOUT A FRIEND AND PEOPLE SMART THEY WERE A FREE SERVICE, BUT THEY ARE NOT. SO I THOUGHT I WAS JUST PAYING FOR A 1 TIME CHARGE OF 9.95 FOR 1 MONTH, I DID NOT REALIZE THEY CHARGE EVERY MONTH THE AMOUNT OF 59.70, WHICH IS NOT WHAT I WANTED. I CANCELLED THE MEMBERSHIP, BUT THEY WILL NOT REFUND MY MONEY. MY ORDER ID# IS 61216****, AND PAYMENT

ID# 4395**** FOR $59.70 CHARGED ON 9/07/2014.

IF I DO NOT GET A REFUND I WILL CONTACT THE BBB AND ANY OTHER CONSUMER AGENCY THAT I CAN FIND.

After researching we have found an account showing our services were obtained on 8/15/2014 for a 6-month Unlimited Phone + Work + Contact + Criminal Search membership which included a free background report. The background report (a value of $29.95) was free due to it being connected to the membership. The search membership would renew on a 6 month basis. There was only one charge on your card for this membership as opposed to any monthly charge.

I do apologize for the misunderstanding as to the membership package that was purchased. This was itemized for you at the checkout process where you would have put in your card information and also in the confirmation email that was sent immediately after purchase.

Signing up for one membership gets you both which then have to be cancelled separately

I signed up for a free 7day trial of PeopleSmart on 6/16/14. I sent them a cancellation request on 6/19/14. I have received charges to my credit card for June, July, and August for $19.95 each month for PeopleSmart Search Access. This is what they show at My Account:

June Order ID 59921**** Payment ID 4143**** $19.95

July Order ID 59921**** Payment ID 4251**** $19.95

August Irder ID 59921**** Payment ID 4352**** $19.95

I've contacted them by email and gotten no satisfaction. If I understand their logic, they say that I signed up for IdentitySmart + PeopleSmart Search Access - each costing $19.95 per month. They say that I cancelled only the IdentitySmart and not the PeopleSmart Search Access membership. I only wanted the PeopleSmart Search Access membership and thought that that was what I was cancelling. I didn't want or care an iota about the IdentitySmart. Basically, they're saying that I signed up for both in one transaction, but if you want to cancel, you have to cancel them separately. I think they're running a racket by making the cancellation process convoluted and confusing to their advantage. I want the unwanted membership charges to my credit card reversed.

After researching your account we see that you signed up for a 7-day Free Trial membership to PeopleSmart and 7-day Free Trial subscription to IdentitySmart. IdentitySmart is a service that provides you with the tools needed to manage and protect your identity. Your PeopleSmart membership includes basic People Searches which will return listed contact information, such as address and phone number. You canceled your subscription to IdentitySmart over the web site on 6/19/2014; however, you did not cancel your subscription to PeopleSmart. As such, the membership billed when the trial expired after 7 days, since there was no cancellation of the membership. I understand you were previously told the IdentitySmart was continuing to charge however it was indeed the PeopleSmart membership that was continuing to bill. I do apologize for the misunderstanding as to the membership package that was purchased. This was itemized for you at the checkout process where you would have put in your card information and also in the confirmation email that was sent immediately after purchase.

I apologize if you found the cancellation process confusing. Our intention is to make the cancellation process as easy as possible for our customers. On September 13th 2014, 4 armed assailents entered my house at 3:00AM.

I grabbed my shotgun and killed the intruders and called the sheriff.

The sheriff arrived and during his investigation found a piece of paper with my name and address and the corporate logo for Peoplesmart on it... Apparently Peoplesmart works around blocks on public records for the Witness protection program and there is nothing the FBI can do about it...Congratulations Peoplesmart, you nearly got me killed. :)

So for the rest of you reading this, you can be sure that Peoplesmart has your best interests in mind and will give you all the information you want on someone. Guaranteed.......

That goes the same for the other way around.....Enjoy!

I only used peoplesmart one time and I know I canceled the 7 day free trial subscription. They charged me without even telling me.

Just got online banking and saw it on there, don't know how long this has been going on. I want my money refunded.

I was charged for services , after a declined attempt

Hello, I have a concern for the charges that were taken from my account from PeopleSmart.com . I had originally signed up for a 7 day free trial on August 23,2014.

I had received an email on August 30 2014 stating that the free trial will expire . I had also received an email on the same day right after, telling me that an attempt was made to take out a payment for 1 month unlimited membership.

The card that I had used for my trial had no funds at the time so I received an email stating that on August 30,2014 the card was declined and to please update the information to receive the membership. This morning I received my statement from American Express and it appears that they have taken two payments of $19.95 out of my account on August 5,2014 (5) days after my free trial had expired .

You took a simple program and screwed it up

i spend more time trying to log in. when i do i try to get a phone no and you will not give it to me and try to get me to up grade. i will give you a bout a week to fix the problems or i will cancel my prescription!!!!! what is your phone no?????

the system will not recognize my pass word from one session from the next. the old system one can verify the old address

easily. the new one may be good after i learn it.

i think someone sold you a bill of goods. currently the program is not worth the monthly charge.

The change in your membership status would impact the information provided. We understand that there could be some confusion about our Premium Reports. PeopleSmart.com provides free information about phone numbers including issuing location, line type, carrier, and more.

To find out the owner's name and address for a cell phone or unlisted number, you'll have to purchase the information. Since cell phones and unlisted numbers aren't public records, they cannot be provided free through our website. This is true wherever you go online, not just at our website. If you purchased your membership and were under the impression you would get unlimited reports (with mobile phone owner’s names) we apologize for the misunderstanding.

We do appreciate you taking the time to provide us with your valuable feedback and we are sorry to hear you are experiencing difficulties with our website. Your input is vital and we do our best to make the site as intuitive as possible.

Unaoutherized charges to my debit card from people smart

two charges of 29.95 that were not authorized. both charges were for 29.95.

one charge on 7-7-2014 and the other on 8-8-2014. I used a one time very limited search for 1.95 and I want theses charges removed and stopped. I have no idea why a company would charge you for something you did not sign up for and not even notify you before doing so. im a senior citizen on disability with a very limited income and can not afford fraudulent charges.

I would hope people smart would think of situations like mine before taking peoples money.

I need my money credited back to my debit card. thank yo, pissed off Grandma

Report was useless

I ordered a one month trial of People Smart in order to do a background check on an independent contractor. Nothing showed up even though I had been told by a client that this person had a criminal history. I went to another company and did the same search and received confirmation of all the client had told me.

When I called for a refund since the service clearly did not provide what I paid for I was told "People Search does not warrant any information." Why should I have to pay for incorrect or incomplete information?

I requested a refund and was refused.

Overchargres every month since last March.never subscribed, refund incorrect PeopleSmart says they can only refund 90 days even though they over charged my bank account 5 months in a row. Viral needs

They overcharged my bank account every month for 39.95 I did not have a subscription. Now they tell me they have a policy that they can only refund for the last ninety days.

Well this is FRAUD and I will go viral if that is what it takes, I want the President's name and General Manager's name today. They have refunded me a portion of the money owed, however, I want all of it now. Had mo idea they were such deadbeats. How do they continue to get away with this?

Is because no one has gone viral, well it is tim e people like me know what this company really is.

At the time of your original enrollment, the terms of service indicate all sales are final after 60 days.

peoplesmart.com tricked me into signing up/paying for a monthly service by making it seem like they ran a yearly service at the time of check out by stating in the user agreement: "Yes, I agree to the Terms of Service. I understand that if I do not cancel, I will be automatically billed $35.40 PER YEAR for continued access." So after reading this I believe I have one year to cancel my membership before I am billed.

however that was not the case. Shortly after signing up and paying my 1$ phone number lookup fee I was billed a charge of $19.95 for a monthly membership. I feel that I have been scammed into paying money I did not want to spend, Especially for a service that was not worth the money.

I tried to dispute the refund with my bank but they said it was up to the discretion of the company. I hope that this complaint site can help me reach the company and receive my refund from peoplesmart.com

Peoplesmart - Free Trial Review

I signed up for a free 7-day trial on peoplesmart.com. At the time of sign up the only additional fees that it mentioned was a $35.40 (yearly fee) for not canceling.

However I was charged an unauthorized $19.95 (monthly fee) shortly after the free trial. On top of that, the service that they charged me for was useless and not worth a single bit of my time or money.

I am trying to cancel my account!! I get automated emails, wrong number sounds phoney to collect my $29.00 after seven days.

I contacted an attorney if I am charged I will be during!!

Cancel my account!! My whole thing is 24/7 customer service is a complete lie!!

PeopleSmart charged me $19.95 on my credit card without notifying me

I had signed up for the free trial and did not agree to any sort of recurring payments. Today i sign in to my bank to see that i have been charged $19.95.

i called them and they said that it was my fault for not reading the conditions. I did not authorize any payment and they refused to give me a refund. all i signed for was a free 7 day trial, they did not mention anything about recurring payments, and now they just went and helped them selves by taking my money from my credit card without my knowledge.

These people are a SCAM. don't do business with them, EVER.
