OVERCHARGED
I paid for the free trial to PeopleSmart and cancelled it. See now that I have been being charged for MONTHS after I cancelled it.
What a scam. I would like them to reimburse me for everything I was charged. Was never able to find out anything on that site. I called and talked to someone and they assured me that was all I had to do.
I'm very upset by the way they robbed me for something that I cancelled. I'm hoping that they will step up to the plate and resolve this matter by refunding me my entire amount.

Peoplesmart - Trial Membership Review from Lewis Center, Ohio
I tried to find a few numbers, including two I already new and one college friend. I had tried a couple days previously but cancelled that trial because the info was so out of date.
Thinking I had actually cancelled my trial, I re registered from my personal email and gave more info to search engine, but results were flawed, so again I cancelled. Both accounts were debited by PeopleSmart as if they simply ignored my cancellation. I wrote to them via their customer service site, to no avail. I WILL report them to BBB and whoever else will listen if issue not resolved to my satisfaction by end of week.
This is theft and a scam in my book!
To offer a trial but ignore a timely cancellation... I want my money back!!

SO I THOUGHT I WAS JUST PAYING FOR A 1 TIME CHARGE OF 9.95 FOR 1 MONTH, I DID NOT REALIZE THEY CHARGE EVERY MONTH THE AMOUNT OF 59.70, WHICH IS NOT WHAT I WANTED. I CANCELLED THE MEMBERSHIP, BUT THEY WILL NOT REFUND MY MONEY. MY ORDER ID# IS 61216****, AND PAYMENT
ID# 4395**** FOR $59.70 CHARGED ON 9/07/2014.
IF I DO NOT GET A REFUND I WILL CONTACT THE BBB AND ANY OTHER CONSUMER AGENCY THAT I CAN FIND.

I had the same problem. I canceled on time.I remember reading how ridiculous the fee was for identity protection not to mention how pointless it was to have simply because I was going to cancel.
I found out I was indeed charged 19.95 for it when I under NO circumstances selected to have it. The man assisting me, Mark, spoke very poor English I could barely understand him. He also kept inferring I was lying. I am furious.
I want that money put back into my account. I was scammed and no one wants to help. I will contact the Better Business Bureau.
Perhaps even a lawyer. It may seem petty but I refuse to be scammed.

Like many others, I have been charged for services that I did not agree to, and I will be compiling a list of these charges for my records. The same thing occurred with InstantCheckmate, which appears to be related. I cancelled on the InstantCheckmate site, and by some incredible coincidence, that same day, they charged me one last charge. Seemed to me like one last fraudulent charge before they made their exit from my account. I was just recently charged $25 (usually $15) by Identity Smart / People Smart, and I have no idea why. These charges have occurred for many months and they now seem to be inflated, which is really beside the point, because the charges should never have been there in the first place.
I have seen several reviews and several complaints about this service, and it sounds like the makings of a class action suit. I am not 'out for blood', I merely want my situation remedied ASAP. If it is not, I will make it my #1 priority to shake the very foundation of this company, and I am just the person to get the ball rolling in that aspect.
In summary, I urge you to give this matter 100% of your attention, or legal ramifications will be pursued. I honestly hope it does not come to that, but I can't AFFORD to simply sit by and watch this happen, to me, or to anyone else.

Ripped off since Feb.
I did one search and paid for it. When I realized that I had inadvertently authorized a service I immediately stopped the service.
Less than 1 month later, I was laid off. My laptop and emails were not available to me any longer. The account I used to make this purchase is an old account I used with my wife for emergency transfer of funds, I rarely check it and do not get a paper monthly account list. It is a credit union and does not cost me anything.
Today I went to make a deposit and was shocked to see that it was over $160 less than expected on my balance. I went on line and found that people smart has been charging me $19.95 per month since February. I immediately called them and the most they would refund is 3 months of charges, and possibly one more month. I am furious.
This is not a product I would need or want a monthly service. I am not sure that I ever requested the 7 day trial.
This is a horrible scam, and I look forward to my refund in class action law suit. Anyone want to join me?

On September 13th 2014, 4 armed assailents entered my house at 3:00AM.
I grabbed my shotgun and killed the intruders and called the sheriff.
The sheriff arrived and during his investigation found a piece of paper with my name and address and the corporate logo for Peoplesmart on it... Apparently Peoplesmart works around blocks on public records for the Witness protection program and there is nothing the FBI can do about it...Congratulations Peoplesmart, you nearly got me killed. :)
So for the rest of you reading this, you can be sure that Peoplesmart has your best interests in mind and will give you all the information you want on someone. Guaranteed.......

I have tried for 3 or 4 days now to cancel this membership before having my debit card charged. Every time I tried to click on change billing information/ cancel trial membership it would not load page to do so.
I am extremely pissed after being charged $19.95 twice to my bank account. The website was not helpful nor did it help me in any way shape or form.
I will tell everyone I know and make sure enough negative feedback gets out so this does not happen to anyone else. I am now $40 short in my account for lack of good customer service from peoplesmart.com

I have tried to cancel my free trial for the past 3 days but every time I click on the link to cancel nothing happens!!! Have noticed this issue with other links as well, like customer service!!! Please help so I'm not charged for a membership.

I signed up for the 7-day free trial at peoplesmart to do some searches on people I do business with. I decided to start with checking the accuracy of their data by doing a search on myself.
The search results were outdated and insufficient. There is more info about me on google than on their website! I decided to cancel the membership immediately, the same day I signed up. However, I was charged $19.95 for my one search!
They say that if you generate PDF report, they will change you even if this was during the free trial!
Now, I got charged for service I didn't receive. This is scam!

I am 84 years old and will reach 85 years old of November 16 which is next Sunday. I did not think that I would live this long. I sincerely regret using this space but must in order to fulfill the requirement of a minimum of 100 words. I cancelled my subscription twice and I just got billed again.
I took this out a few months ago on a trial membership. After that I cancelled it not once by twice. I just got billed again. I have instructed the bank to no longer honor this. I would also like credited for the last 2 times. I have made contact by e-mail twice and was assured this would be taken care of and it hasn't occurred. I don't want to turn this over to the Better Business but I will unless this is taken care of. I am asking that you please take care of this for me.

I was charged for services , after a declined attempt
Hello, I have a concern for the charges that were taken from my account from PeopleSmart.com . I had originally signed up for a 7 day free trial on August 23,2014.
I had received an email on August 30 2014 stating that the free trial will expire . I had also received an email on the same day right after, telling me that an attempt was made to take out a payment for 1 month unlimited membership.
The card that I had used for my trial had no funds at the time so I received an email stating that on August 30,2014 the card was declined and to please update the information to receive the membership. This morning I received my statement from American Express and it appears that they have taken two payments of $19.95 out of my account on August 5,2014 (5) days after my free trial had expired .

Signing up for one membership gets you both which then have to be cancelled separately
I signed up for a free 7day trial of PeopleSmart on 6/16/14. I sent them a cancellation request on 6/19/14. I have received charges to my credit card for June, July, and August for $19.95 each month for PeopleSmart Search Access. This is what they show at My Account:

I've contacted them by email and gotten no satisfaction. If I understand their logic, they say that I signed up for IdentitySmart + PeopleSmart Search Access - each costing $19.95 per month. They say that I cancelled only the IdentitySmart and not the PeopleSmart Search Access membership. I only wanted the PeopleSmart Search Access membership and thought that that was what I was cancelling. I didn't want or care an iota about the IdentitySmart. Basically, they're saying that I signed up for both in one transaction, but if you want to cancel, you have to cancel them separately. I think they're running a racket by making the cancellation process convoluted and confusing to their advantage. I want the unwanted membership charges to my credit card reversed.
